In a major relief for fans, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour concert in Delhi has been granted official permission following extensive security discussions.
The event, scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, had previously been denied permission by the Delhi Police over security and law and order concerns.
The initial refusal by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) stemmed from festive season crowd management demands and specific threat inputs. These included a hoax bomb threat email sent to six Delhi schools on October 15, which contained pro-Khalistani slogans and warned students against attending the concert.
However, after event organisers presented comprehensive security and safety plans during high-level meetings, authorities approved the venue setup.
The temporary denial also triggered political friction in the national capital. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the authorities of bias against the singer over his past support for the farmers’ movement. Countering the allegations, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra dismissed AAP’s statements as “petty politics,” pointing out that Dosanjh has previously hosted massive successful concerts in the city.
With police clearance officially secured, ticketing partner BookMyShow and event organisers are moving forward with final preparations for the grand concert.
