Leaders of the Opposition INDIA bloc are actively strategizing a fresh wave of nationwide demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, scheduled to commence in early November.
The upcoming phase will follow a massive joint rally scheduled at New Delhi’s Ramlila Ground on November 1. Following intense marches through central Delhi earlier this month, senior alliance leaders are evaluating multiple high-profile strategies to sustain political momentum regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) controversies.
According to CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby, proposals under consideration include organizing a “mock Parliament” to symbolically enact the impeachment of the CEC, complete with arguments from both prosecution and defense. Other leaders underscored that Congress figures Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal have reiterated that agitations will continue unabated until the CEC steps down.
To coordinate the multifaceted campaign—which aims to unite political parties, civil society organizations, and student groups—the alliance is set to form a dedicated joint coordination committee.
