Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said every drop of Bindusagar is sacred and added that it is the emblem of national integration and unity.
Starting the transformation of Bindusagar under 5T programme of the state government on Saturday, Patnaik said under the Ekarmra yojana this sacred pond will be cleansed. He said Bindusagara is not only sacred for the people of Bhubaneswar, but for the whole humanity. The Chief Minister said this is our responsibility to keep the sacred pond clean.
Odisha CM said: “I congratulate Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, IOCL and ICT for extending their supports for this gracious initiative. Bindusagar is associated with socio-cultural life of Bhubaneswar people”.
He called upon the people to come forward for keeping twenty more other ponds in the city clean to ensure good environment of the region.
The Chief Minister said water is life and it must be preserved at any cost. Patnaik thanked Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for the cooperation of Indian Oil Corporation and Indian Chemicals Institute in this regard.
Attending the programme the Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said ASI and the Central government will provide full cooperation for the work and added that all should contribute to elevate the Odia culture on the world forum.
While State PWD Minister Prafulla Mallick praised the efforts of Chief Minister, Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda dwelt up different initiatives by the CM concerning the transformation.
The programme was also attended by MPs Aparajita Sarangi and Raghunath Mohapatra. The chairman of IOCL and vice chancellor of ICT also spoke on the occasion.
