Director Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot has reached a monumental box office milestone, crossing $320.2 million worldwide in its fourth weekend.
With this impressive haul, the video game adaptation has officially dethroned 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter ($312.2 million) to become the all-time highest-grossing entry in the entire franchise.
The horror hit posted strong numbers domestically, collecting $8.4 million in its fourth weekend across North America for a current domestic total of $138.5 million. Overseas, the film experienced a massive 227% spike over the weekend, bringing in $54.3 million across 64 international markets and elevating its international cume to $181.7 million.
Cregger’s take on the iconic survival-horror property has revitalised the cinematic universe, outperforming all previous instalments, including Afterlife ($300.2 million) and Retribution ($240.1 million).
As it inches closer to $150 million in North America alone, Resident Evil stands firmly as one of 2026’s biggest global horror successes.
