In a fiery press conference held at the Indira Bhawan headquarters in New Delhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi announced that the united INDIA bloc will march to the Supreme Court to file a formal petition against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
’200 Government Officers in Touch With Us’
Escalating his attack on the central leadership, Gandhi claimed that 200 officers from within the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration are in regular contact with the Opposition and providing internal information.
”I want to tell PM Modi, 200 officers from within your government are in touch with us; they are passing on information to us,” Gandhi claimed during his address.
He further asserted that half of the deployed security personnel—including local police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel—secretly support the movement for constitutional oversight and free elections.
March to Supreme Court and Open Call to Citizens
Addressing allegations surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged “vote chori” (vote theft), Rahul Gandhi invited citizens across party lines to participate in the protest march starting from the Barakhamba Junction at Connaught Place.
- Constitutional Battle: Gandhi emphasized that the ongoing movement transcends individual leaders, describing it as a fundamental effort to safeguard India’s democratic framework.
- Call for Solidarity: He urged supporters across the country to express solidarity by any means possible as the legal petition is formally submitted to the apex court.
- Reaction to Security Measures: Dismissing police barricading and traffic advisories enforced across central Delhi, Gandhi stated that increased security deployments only deepen the government’s political predicament.
