In a major push to elevate the infrastructure of Odisha’s spiritual capital, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has sanctioned an additional Rs 100.83 crore for the ongoing development projects in Puri under the ABADHA (Augmentation Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme.
This fresh allocation revises the total project cost from the initial Rs 557.19 crore to Rs 658.03 crore. The funds are earmarked for critical infrastructure upgrades, including the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre (JBPC), the upcoming Market Complex, Shree Setu, and the extension of the Musa River project.
The budget enhancement primarily accounts for the expanded scope of construction at the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre. A state-of-the-art, 2,000-seat multi-purpose hall will now be built on the fifth floor of the JBPC to accommodate large-scale spiritual and cultural gatherings, alongside meeting other project-related necessities.
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to transforming Puri into a world-class heritage city, Chief Minister Majhi assured devotees that there will be no compromise on infrastructure.
“Whatever funds are required for the development of Mahaprabhu’s abode will undoubtedly be provided. There will be no shortage of funds for this holy endeavor,” the Chief Minister stated.
