The Inter-Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Odisha, held its meeting today at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar.
The session focused on enhancing strategic communication, inter-departmental coordination, and the effective dissemination of Central Government policies and welfare schemes across the region.
Presiding over the meeting, Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, PIB & CBC, Bhubaneswar, highlighted the necessity of thoughtful, action-oriented communication. Drawing parallels from the Ramayana, he stressed the value of patience, silence, and active listening before communicating.
Citing Hanuman as an exemplary communicator who combined strategic clarity with direct execution, Mishra remarked, “Communication without action is no communication at all; it is merely amplification.” He urged communicators to engage actively with ground realities rather than merely relaying information.
Chief Guest Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, emphasized making science and technology accessible to the public. “Science must become part of everyday conversations,” he noted, calling for stronger collaboration between research institutions and media outlets. Dr. Narayan outlined CSIR’s contributions across pharmaceuticals, agriculture, space technology, and materials science, while highlighting CSIR-IMMT’s ongoing work in critical minerals, rare earth elements, electronic waste recycling, circular economy initiatives, and hydrogen-based direct reduced iron (DRI).
The meeting featured presentations from member organizations showcasing key achievements, best practices, and strategies to leverage digital platforms and emerging technologies for enhanced public outreach.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Pradeep Kumar Choudhury, Member Secretary, IMPCC Odisha Region, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Satyajit Rath, Chief Scientist at CSIR-IMMT.
Senior officials and representatives from various Central Government media units, public sector undertakings, and autonomous bodies attended the session, including leaders from the Regional Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, IISER Berhampur, NCERT, MSME, East Coast Railway, Doordarshan Kendra, and All India Radio.
