The Odia Society of Singapore (OSS) hosted a special screening of two acclaimed Odia films, ChaariKaandha and Guruji Namaskar, at the SINDA Auditorium.
The event drew around 50 members of the local Odia diaspora, who warmly received both productions for their meaningful stories and strong social messages.
Directed by Biswanath Rath and produced by Atish Kumar Rout, ChaariKaandha is a 36-minute social comedy-drama exploring aging and loneliness. Made history on February 27, 2026, as India’s first mid-length film to receive a theatrical release, it has secured 28 awards across 53 global film festivals.
Guruji Namaskar, directed by Jitendriya Pradhan and produced by Sanket Kumar Tripathy and Illa Mishra, released theatrically on July 10, 2026. Set in rural Odisha, the feature film depicts a dedicated teacher’s crusade to promote education among underprivileged children. It ran for over 30 days in Odisha and earned 32 awards across 15 festivals.
OSS President Subrat expressed gratitude to the audience and production houses for screening rights, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to bringing more quality Odia cinema to Singapore.
The event highlights OSS’s ongoing mission to promote Odisha’s culture, language, and creative arts within the global diaspora.
