The South Western Range (SWR) of Odisha Police has officially invited applications from retired police officers for 113 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts on a contractual basis.
The recruitment process aims to re-engage eligible retired Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and Inspectors of Police to bolster policing capabilities across six key districts.
District-Wise Vacancy Breakdown
The newly created posts will be distributed across Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada districts. Among these, Rayagada accounts for the largest chunk of vacancies, while Nuapada holds the fewest:

Eligibility Criteria & Key Requirements
Applicants interested in applying for these posts must fulfil specific criteria set by the department:

Age Limit: Candidates must not be older than 65 years as of the date of advertisement publication.

Residency & Language: Must be permanent residents of Odisha and possess fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Odia.

Service Record: A completely unblemished past service record is strictly required. Applicants must have no pending criminal charges or past convictions.
Recruitment Process & Selection Schedule
Eligible candidates must submit their completed application forms to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Western Range, Koraput, no later than 5:30 PM on October 15, 2026. Late or incomplete submissions will face direct rejection.
The selection procedure is scheduled to take place at the Reserve Police Ground in Koraput on October 28, 2026, starting at 6:30 AM.
Candidates who fail to complete the 5 km physical assessment within the allotted one-hour limit will be disqualified immediately.
Remuneration & Service Terms
Selected personnel will be engaged on a contractual basis for an initial duration of one year. During their tenure, SPOs will wear the prescribed police uniform and designated badge. Remuneration and financial benefits will strictly follow the official guidelines issued by the Finance Department, Government of Odisha.
