Seven persons were arrested in Cuttack for allegedly black marketing tickets to the India vs England ODI cricket match scheduled at the Barabati Stadium on February 9, 2025.

The accused were selling tickets at inflated prices, and police seized 25 tickets, ₹30,000 cash, three mobile phones, and two motorcycles during the arrests. The high demand for tickets led to chaotic scenes and a stampede-like situation at the stadium.

As per reports, three men were selling as many as eight gallery tickets for the match at higher prices. They had posted photos of the physical tickets online and sought buyers.

As they were handing over the tickets to a person in the Buxi Bazaar area, a police team reached the spot and apprehended them. On being questioned by police, the person who had come to buy the tickets told the cops that the accused were selling the tickets at much higher prices.

Similarly, the Cantonment Police have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in black marketing tickets to the match. They were selling tickets worth Rs 1100 for Rs 7000 each.
