518 Migrant Workers Die in Five Years in Odisha

Odisha reported the deaths of 518 migrant workers over the past five years, according to a written reply by Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia in the Assembly.


The figures show that Kalahandi recorded 60 deaths, Ganjam 56, and Balangir 38. Similarly, Kandhamal reported 34 deaths, Nabarangpur 35, and Rayagada 34.

Authorities confirmed that many of these workers lost their lives while working outside the state and country. Out of the total, 395 bodies were handed over to their families after completion of formalities.
