A four-year-old boy was killed while three others, including his parents, sustained critical injuries after a sand-laden dumper hit the bike they were riding on the Ghasian road near Larambha in Patnagarh, Bolangir district.

The deceased child has been identified as Jit Bariha. The child’s parents, Bhima Bariha and Chandrika and another person, Jugal, sustained critical injuries and were immediately shifted to Bhima Bhoi Hospital in Balangir for medical attention.

The accident occurred when the dumper (vehicle number OD03AA4120), transporting sand from the Sukhtel River sand quarry, collided with the bike near Larambha.

The dumper driver fled the scene following the accident. Larambha police have seized the vehicle and are conducting further investigations.

This tragic incident highlights the urgent need for stricter road safety measures and enforcement to prevent such devastating accidents.
