A four-year-old boy from Majhiguda village under Chintalwada panchayat in Kalimela block suffered severe burn injuries after accidentally falling into a vessel of hot water.

The child, identified as Ramesh Madkami, son of Rama Madkami, was playing near his house around 8:00 AM when the incident occurred. His mother, Bhime Madkami, was boiling water in a pot outside the house. Ramesh, distracted while playing nearby, slipped and fell into the vessel.

Neighbours rushed to rescue the child and immediately took him to the Kalimela Community Health Centre. Doctors confirmed that nearly 50 per cent of his body had sustained burn injuries. Since the local hospital lacked a burn unit, medical staff referred Ramesh to the district headquarters hospital for advanced treatment.

Witnesses said the accident shocked the entire village, as the boy was well-known among neighbours. Community members assisted the family in transporting him to the hospital.

Medical authorities reported that the child’s condition remains critical, and specialised care is required to manage the extensive burns. Officials assured that all possible support will be extended to the family during the treatment process.
