Security forces in Jharkhand neutralized three high-ranking Maoist operatives during a joint operation in the early hours of Monday.
The encounter took place in the dense forests of Gorhar and Karandi village in Hazaribagh district, following precise intelligence inputs.
Among those killed was Sahdeo Soren, a Central Committee Member of the CPI(Maoist), who carried a bounty of ₹1 crore on his head. Accompanying him were Raghunath Hembram, a Special Area Committee Member with a ₹25 lakh reward, and Virsen Ganjhu, a Zonal Committee Member with a ₹10 lakh bounty.
The operation, executed by the CRPF’s elite CoBRA battalion alongside Giridih and Hazaribagh police, resulted in the recovery of three AK-47 rifles. Officials confirmed the encounter occurred around 4:20 AM in the Pantitri forest region.
This marks a significant success in Jharkhand’s ongoing efforts to dismantle Maoist networks and restore peace in insurgency-affected areas.
