In a bid to maintain law and order, Odisha’s Bhadrak district enforced a 24-hour internet shutdown starting from 6 AM on June 12, 2025, across five affected areas—Bhadrak Municipality, Bhadrak Block, Dhamnagar NAC, Dhamnagar Block, and Tihidi Block.
The restriction follows a violent group clash that resulted in the death of one youth and injuries to several others. Authorities fear that inflammatory content spread via social media could further escalate tensions.
Bhadrak Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar Raut, urged the public to maintain peace and refrain from spreading misinformation. To prevent further unrest, 12 individuals were arrested in connection with the violence.
Security has been tightened across the district, with officials monitoring the situation closely. The administration remains on high alert to ensure stability and prevent further disturbances.
Local residents have been advised to stay indoors and cooperate with authorities as they work toward restoring normalcy. The internet services are expected to resume at 6 AM on June 13, 2025, depending on the security assessment.
