2-Day Workshop by Odisha Vigilance on Strengthening Investigation & Prosecution Begins in Bhubaneswar

A 2-day Workshop has been organized by Odisha Vigilance at State
Vigilance Academy, Bhubaneswar on Friday in hybrid mode focusing on
strengthening Investigation and Prosecution of Cases.

The workshop is being attended by all SsPs of Vigilance Divisions, all Unit
heads, Investigators, Prosecutors, Technical and Financial Experts of Vigilance in
presence of the Senior Officers of Odisha Vigilance.

Inaugurating the Workshop, Shri Y.K. Jethwa, IPS, Director Vigilance in
his welcome address informed that Odisha Vigilance has given top priority towards
Detection, Investigation & Prosecution of Vigilance Cases. He directed the officers
to take strong actions against corrupt public servants tapping the latest
technologies and know how to detect corrupt practices by public servants.

He thanked the Government for announcing to setting up of a dedicated Forensic Science
Laboratory at Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack and expand the multidisciplinary
character by approving the engagement of more professionals and domain experts in
vigilance.

Further, steps like the provision of laptops/desktops to the investigating
officers, and more vehicles to enhance their mobility, will significantly enhance the
competence of Odisha Vigilance in acting against corrupt practices of
public/government servants.

On the 2nd day of the Workshop, a thorough interaction will be made
with the Prosecutors of Vigilance Courts for streamlining and strengthening the
Prosecution of Vigilance cases under trial, and to achieve higher conviction rates.
Odisha Vigilance has maintained approx 50% conviction rate overall & conviction in
DA cases stood at 80%.

During the proceedings of the day, felicitation of officers who have
excelled in investigation and prosecution in the past year, was done.

The Director Vigilance urged the officers to show higher dedication
utilizing the enhances infrastructural and professional support to improve their
professional outcomes in the year ahead.
