1,404 Teaching Posts Vacant Across 17 Universities in Odisha

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj reveals alarming faculty shortage in Assembly

In a written reply to the Odisha Assembly, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj disclosed that a total of 1,404 teaching positions are currently vacant across 17 state-run universities.


The breakdown includes:

  • 260 Professor posts
  • 453 Associate Professor posts
  • 669 Assistant Professor posts

Ravenshaw University has the highest number of vacancies, followed by Utkal University. In addition to teaching roles, 2,286 non-teaching positions also remain unfilled across these institutions.
