A shocking incident has shaken Kuliadara village under Kantabanji police limits in Balangir district, where a 14‑year‑old boy, Devendra Banchhor, died after leaving home upset over a mobile recharge dispute.
According to reports, Devendra, a Class X student at the local government school, asked his father Rudraksh Banchhor for ₹300 to recharge his mobile phone. His father refused, advising him to focus on studies instead. Shortly after, Devendra left home.
Family members later found him in a critical condition near the village and rushed him to Kantabanji hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the family and the community. Police have registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for post‑mortem before handing it over to relatives. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
