YouTuber Rahul Maharana lost his life in a violent attack at the GGP Colony ground in Bhubaneswar around 11.15 pm on Saturday.
The 28‑year‑old resident of Palasuni, who also ran an oxygen cylinder supply business, collapsed after sustaining multiple injuries from sharp weapons. Doctors at Capital Hospital declared him dead shortly after his admission.
Rahul had married only two months ago. His sudden death shocked family, friends, and followers who knew him as a passionate vlogger. Police revealed that three accused carried out the attack, including a jawan of the 120 Battalion and his two nephews. Investigators recovered the weapons used in the crime.
The incident stemmed from a long‑standing dispute. Two months earlier, Rahul clashed with the same group of youths, and police mediated a settlement. However, tension lingered. On Saturday morning, Rahul argued again with members of the group. Later that evening, the accused consumed liquor and plotted revenge. At night, they confronted Rahul while he was with friends. Witnesses said the attackers chased him with swords and knives, striking repeatedly until he collapsed.
Police reached the spot quickly and arrested all three accused. Authorities confirmed that the investigation continues, focusing on the motive and prior disputes. Rahul Maharana’s murder highlights the dangers of unresolved conflicts escalating into violence.
