Tension gripped Balangir town after a youth went missing and his slippers and mobile phone were discovered behind Jagannath temple in RR Colony under Laxmijore police limits.
Reports said Akash Bag of ITI Colony was last seen on Saturday evening talking to a minor girl near the temple. The girl’s father spotted them, after which both ran away. Since then, neither Akash nor the girl has returned home. Families of both lodged complaints with the police. The girl’s family accused Akash of abduction, while Akash’s relatives filed a missing persons report.
On Monday night, Akash’s slippers and mobile phone were found behind the temple. His family alleged that the girl’s relatives may have murdered him. The discovery intensified suspicion and triggered unrest in the locality.
Balangir Sadar police and Laxmijore police launched a joint investigation. SDPO Saroj Upadhyay confirmed that inquiries are underway to trace both the missing youth and the minor girl. Police teams are examining leads and questioning locals to establish the sequence of events.
The incident has created panic in RR Colony, with residents demanding swift action. Families continue to wait anxiously for answers as police probe the case.
