The body of an unidentified youth—estimated to be around 30 years old—was found inside the toilet of the Purushottam Express near Bhubaneswar railway station on Saturday morning.
This marks the second such incident in less than a month, sparking alarm among passengers and railway authorities.
The body was discovered during routine cleaning after the train arrived at the station. Railway staff immediately alerted senior officials, prompting swift action from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF). A forensic team was dispatched to examine the coach and collect evidence.
Authorities have yet to identify the deceased, and the body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the cause and time of death. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and cross-checking missing person reports from nearby areas.
This incident follows a similar case earlier this month, when another youth was found dead in the toilet of the Bhubaneswar–Delhi Duronto Express. That victim was later identified as Shiv Kumar from Uttar Pradesh.
The GRP is exploring all possibilities, including foul play, accident, or self-harm. Meanwhile, the public is demanding tighter security and better surveillance across railway stations in Odisha.
