India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was reportedly rushed to hospital late on Tuesday night after experiencing severe stomach pain following Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) Super League match against Rajasthan in Pune.
According to reports, the 23-year-old batter complained of stomach cramps during the match, which intensified significantly after the game. Jaiswal was taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where medical examinations confirmed that he was suffering from acute gastroenteritis.
Medical Update on Yashasvi Jaiswal
As per information shared by a senior journalist on social media platform X, Jaiswal underwent CT scans and ultrasound (USG) as part of the evaluation. He was administered intravenous medication and has been advised to continue treatment along with adequate rest. There is no indication of serious complications at this stage.
The BCCI is yet to release an official statement regarding Jaiswal’s condition, but further updates are expected in due course.
Played Despite Discomfort
Despite being in visible discomfort, Jaiswal took the field and scored 15 runs off 16 balls as Mumbai successfully chased down a stiff target of 217, winning the match by three wickets. The chase was led by Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 72 and an explosive 22-ball 73 from Sarfaraz Khan.
However, Mumbai were later eliminated from the tournament despite the victory.
Recent Form and Recovery Outlook
The health setback comes amid an impressive run of form for Jaiswal. In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he has scored 145 runs in three matches at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. He also impressed in India’s recent ODI series against South Africa, scoring 156 runs in three matches at an average of 78, including his maiden ODI century.
With no immediate international commitments and not being part of India’s current T20I setup, Jaiswal is expected to have ample time to recover before India’s next set of international fixtures scheduled for mid-January.
