Odisha Chief Secretary Ms Anu Garg on Wednesday said that students from ordinary and economically modest backgrounds can achieve extraordinary success if they are provided with the right encouragement and opportunities.

The Chief Secretary made these remarks during her visit to the PM SHRI Girls’ Sevashram School at Nedipadar under Firingia block in Kandhamal district, as part of her district tour.

The visit proved to be a memorable and inspiring experience for the students. Ms Garg interacted warmly with the tribal girls, engaging them in conversation and discussing their studies and future aspirations. She asked the students about their career goals, to which several girls confidently expressed ambitions of becoming lawyers, sportspersons, civil servants, and administrative officers.

Despite challenging social and economic circumstances, the confidence, clarity of purpose, and determination displayed by the students left a strong impression on all present.

During her interaction with teachers, the Chief Secretary discussed key academic initiatives such as Prayas Plus and Gyan Samruddhi, and advised them to take focused steps to improve the quality of education and learning outcomes. She emphasised the importance of consistent mentoring, academic support, and holistic development for students from tribal and remote areas.

In a deeply touching gesture, Ms Garg shared midday meals with the students, creating a warm and emotionally resonant moment that further strengthened her connection with the children.

Senior district officials, including the District Collector and Sub-Collector of Kandhamal, were present during the visit.

The interaction, encouragement, and time spent by the Chief Secretary with the tribal students reaffirmed the belief that with motivation, guidance, and access to opportunities, young minds can turn their dreams into reality. Her visit is expected to significantly boost the confidence and morale of the students.
