Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, has announced the resumption of wheat distribution under the Food Security Scheme, effective this month.
Speaking to reporters, Patra confirmed that the Central government has begun fresh wheat allocations to the state. As a result, eligible beneficiaries listed under Odisha’s public distribution system will once again receive wheat according to the quantity specified on their ration cards.
Earlier allocations were temporarily halted after the completion of the first phase, leaving the second phase in limbo. However, Patra emphasised that with renewed central support, the state is prepared to distribute wheat as per the scheme’s previous guidelines.
This revival in distribution comes as a relief for thousands who depend on the scheme for daily sustenance, particularly amid fluctuating commodity prices and supply chain challenges.
Beneficiaries are advised to check with their local ration dealers for updated schedules and allocation details.
