In an unexpected cultural crossover between Bollywood and motorsport, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan sat down with McLaren Formula One driver Lando Norris for a lighthearted chai pe charcha covering cinema, racing, and Indian cultural nuances.
The interaction, recorded on the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix, was released by Google India on Friday evening, delighting fans across sports and entertainment.
Joining the Papaya Family
Kareena’s presence at the Grand Prix was officially heralded earlier when McLaren F1 welcomed the actor to the “Papaya Family”—the team’s global fan community—on Instagram. Kareena also shared vibrant snapshots from the paddock and racing circuit on her social media handles.
The conversation quickly took a humorous turn when Kareena joked about her husband, Saif Ali Khan, having won a “world championship” nearly 19 years ago—referencing his role as a NASCAR champion in the 2007 film Ta Ra Rum Pum. Quick to catch the joke, British driver Lando Norris quipped, “So, we’re the same, basically.”
Tea, Trivia, and Indian Gestures
During the chat, Kareena tested Lando on his knowledge of McLaren’s rich racing history and quizzed him on his own career milestones, including his championship run. The actor also introduced the 26-year-old racer to traditional Indian masala chai and taught him how to decipher common Indian non-verbal gestures.
On the professional front, Kareena was last seen headlining Meghna Gulzar’s investigative crime drama Daayra, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
