Koraput: A youth was apprehended by villagers while trying to loot a forest guard at gunpoint at Semiliguda area in Koraput district.
According to reports, the incident took place while a forest guard was heading towards his home on his two-wheeler when two bike-borne miscreants attacked him.
Consequently, the guard fell from his bike. Thereafter, one among two miscreants asked him for money at gunpoint. Following this, the guard shouted for help.
After hearing his scream, villagers chased the miscreants and caught hold of one accused. However, another managed to escape from the spot. Later, villagers handed over the miscreant to Semiliguda Police.
A case has been registered and the accused forwarded to the court today. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused, the police said.
