The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a case against 29 public figures, including popular Tollywood actors Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj, and Rana Daggubati.
This action is part of a significant crackdown on digital financial misconduct, following a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Cyberabad police in Telangana.
The case revolves around alleged transactions linked to a betting application operating outside legal boundaries. Alongside the aforementioned names, actress Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, Ananya Nagalla, and television anchor Srimukhi have also been listed. According to sources, the ED is currently investigating the financial trails and digital footprints left by the accused.
This move comes as part of a broader effort to curb illegal online betting platforms that have proliferated across India. The financial watchdog is expected to summon the individuals for questioning and examine their involvement in promotional campaigns and monetary exchanges connected to the app.
ED officials stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and that findings will be revealed as the digital trail is further analysed.
As the case unfolds, the inclusion of renowned celebrities adds national attention to the issue, raising pressing concerns about influencer accountability and the role of public figures in digital platforms.
