Even after its recent OTT debut on Netflix, the historical epic Chhaava has had a remarkable impact at the box office and is still doing well.
Now in its tenth week of release, the Vicky Kaushal film has surpassed the remarkable Rs 600 crore nett mark on it 66th day, becoming just the third Hindi film to do so. Chhaava joins the ranks of Pushpa 2 and Stree 2, but it stands out for having achieved this noteworthy number without the advantages of a sequel.
A rare accomplishment for a single film, it honours the life and valour of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and has now made Rs 600.10 crore. Unlike Pushpa 2 and Stree 2, which capitalised on the success of their respective franchises, Chhaava has achieved success solely through its content, outstanding performances, and captivating narrative.
Despite debuting on Netflix, the film continues to draw audiences to theatres, and its journey has been nothing short of exceptional. The film opened to a blockbuster reception, earning Rs 225.28 crore in its first week. It maintained impressive momentum, with Rs 186.18 crore in its second week.
