Sankarsan Parida, a veteran BJP leader and celebrated poet from Odisha, died while receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
His daughter announced the news on social media, sharing that he passed away peacefully with his wife and two daughters by his side.
Earlier, Parida underwent treatment in Mumbai before doctors shifted him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. As his condition deteriorated, he moved to AIIMS for advanced care. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to lung cancer after months of struggle.
Throughout his career, Parida made a lasting impact as both a politician and a literary figure. He served as the President of Puri Zilla Parishad, where he championed grassroots development and public welfare. His poetry and storytelling earned admiration across Odisha, bridging politics and culture with eloquence.
Following his death, BJP leaders and citizens across the state paid tribute to his legacy. They remembered him as a compassionate leader who inspired many through his words and actions. His passing leaves a void in Odisha’s political and cultural landscape.
