Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has launched its new 5-inch aluminium billets at ALUMEX India 2025, the country’s first dedicated aluminium extrusion exhibition and conference.

These billets cater to the growing demand for precision-engineered aluminium across various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and HVAC.

The versatile 5-inch billets are designed for a range of applications, such as producing small to medium profiles, seamless tubes, micro-tubes, and hollow profiles. Vedanta Aluminium’s portfolio includes billets from 5 to 12 inches, customizable to meet diverse industry needs, and ensures superior quality through advanced process controls.

The company plans to expand its billet casting capacity from 580 KTPA to 1.25 MTPA and aims to enhance value-added products to comprise 90% of its portfolio. This growth is driven by increasing demand from industries like electric vehicles, solar energy, railways, and construction.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, stated, “The launch of our 5-inch billets strengthens India’s aluminium extrusion ecosystem. Our commitment to expanding capacity and innovating our product range positions India at the forefront of the global aluminium value chain.”

Vedanta Aluminium operates a 1.8 MTPA smelter in Jharsuguda, Odisha, and a 0.57 MTPA facility at BALCO in Chhattisgarh, making it a leader in the domestic and global billet production market. The company offers an extensive range of billets and emphasises low-carbon options through its Restora and Restora Ultra brands.

At ALUMEX India 2025, Vedanta showcased its next-generation billets, engineered with advanced casting technologies for superior quality and recovery rates. The event, organised by the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI), focuses on advancing the aluminium extrusion industry with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability.
