The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved four railway projects across the country, including two transformative projects for Odisha.

This landmark decision aims to enhance infrastructure and bolster rail connectivity in the state.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi thanked Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for their continued focus on Odisha’s development. Shri Majhi praised the Central Government’s efforts, highlighting how consistent approvals of critical projects are propelling Odisha toward becoming a growth engine of the nation.

The two approved projects in Odisha are:

  1. Sambalpur-Jarpada (Talcher, Angul) 3rd and 4th Lines: Estimated investment of ₹3,917 crore.
  2. Jharsuguda-Sasan (Sambalpur) 3rd and 4th Lines: Estimated investment of ₹1,187 crore.

These multi-track projects will ease railway operations, reduce congestion, and significantly boost mobility in Sambalpur, Angul, and Jharsuguda districts. Additionally, the projects align with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan to foster multi-modal connectivity and economic growth.
