Sambalpur: Two persons were reportedly gone missing in the Hirakud reservoir on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Mahesh Chitturi and Abhishek Kumar. Both are officials of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL).
According to reports, Chitturi and Kumar, accompanied by another colleague were taking baths in the Hirakud reservoir near the Jhankarani village in the afternoon.
While all of them were carried away by the strong currents of the water, one of them came out of the water and was narrowly escaped whereas two others went missing in the water.
On being informed, locals with the help of fire services personnel initiated a search operation to rescue the victims.
