Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP), Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, has suspended two police inspectors due to allegations of negligence and misconduct in their duties.
The suspended officers are Inspector Rajesh Baliarsingh, posted at Astaranga police station in Puri district, and Inspector Debashish Mohanty, stationed at Chhatrapur police station in Ganjam district.
Inspector Rajesh Baliarsingh faced serious accusations stemming from his tenure as a Sub-Inspector (SI) at Jeypore Town police station. He was alleged to have released a ganja peddler after detaining him, who later died under suspicious circumstances. A case was registered against Baliarsingh at Jeypore Town PS, and an investigation was initiated. Despite being promoted to Inspector and transferred to Astaranga, concerns arose that his involvement could influence the ongoing probe, prompting DGP Khurania to suspend him to ensure an impartial investigation.
On the other hand, Inspector Debashish Mohanty was suspended for negligence in his duties at Chhatrapur police station. During his suspension, Mohanty has been directed to report to the Inspector General’s office in Berhampur. The police headquarters issued an official notification confirming the suspensions of both officers.
