The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the deputation of two distinguished IPS officers from Odisha to the Border Security Force (BSF) for significant leadership positions.
Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, IPS (OD: 2010), has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the BSF for a period of five years. Shri Ravi Kanta, IPS (OD: 1998), has been designated as the Inspector General (IG) in the BSF for the same tenure. Both appointments were made against existing vacancies and signify the officers’ contributions and capabilities.
The Odisha Government has been requested to immediately relieve the officers to enable them to assume their new roles at the Centre. The Ministry has further instructed the Director General of BSF to inform them about the officers’ joining dates, while ensuring a smooth transition.
This move underscores the pivotal role of IPS officers in bolstering national security and contributing to the efficiency of paramilitary forces such as the BSF.
