A tragic accident in Chalanti village under Jaleswar police station limits in Odisha’s Balasore district has left a two-month-old infant in critical condition after the baby accidentally fell into a fire-filled cooking stove.
The incident occurred at around 10 pm on Tuesday, sending shockwaves across the local community.
Accident During Cold Night
According to preliminary reports, the family was sitting near a fireplace to keep warm amid the prevailing cold weather. The infant’s mother was holding the baby on her lap while tending to the fire. In an unfortunate moment, the child slipped from her lap and fell directly into the burning stove.
The infant sustained severe burn injuries, affecting more than half of the body, officials said.
Infant Undergoing Critical Care
The child was immediately rushed to the Basta medical facility for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, doctors referred the infant to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced medical care.
Hospital sources confirmed that the baby remains in critical condition and is being closely monitored by a team of doctors.
Local residents have expressed concern and extended support to the affected family as authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
