Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Kistaram police station area of Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of security personnel, including members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the elite CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit of the CRPF.
Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP), Kiran Chavhan, reported that the encounter began when the joint team was conducting an anti-naxalite operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists in the area. The operation was launched on Friday and led to the intense exchange of fire.
“We have recovered two bodies of Maoists, and the search is still ongoing,” stated SP Chavhan. He also mentioned that the intermittent exchange of fire continued, and further details are awaited.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat Maoist insurgency in the region as they continue to work towards ensuring the safety and security of the area.
