Two Class X students suffered injuries while heading to their examination centre in Bahanaga block, Balasore district, on Monday.

The victims, Mamata Majhi and Jyotiprava Majhi, both students of Abhana Nodal High School, were struck by a motorbike near Bishnupur Nodal High School Centre.

Locals rescued the girls and rushed them to Gopalpur Community Health Centre. Doctors treated Mamata there, while Jyotiprava’s condition worsened, leading to her transfer to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced care.

Police detained the motorbike rider involved in the accident. Authorities confirmed that both students missed their board examination due to the incident.

The accident has raised concerns about student safety during examination season, with parents and teachers urging stricter traffic monitoring near exam centres.
