In a disturbing incident that has reignited fears over women’s safety in the city, two men were arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Sunday for allegedly molesting a woman at IG Park.
Footage of the assault, captured on video, has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.
According to police sources, the woman was strolling through the park with her male friend when the accused approached and passed lewd comments, triggering a heated argument. The confrontation quickly escalated, with more than three men joining in to molest the victim.
An FIR was promptly registered at the Capital Police Station based on the complaint. Acting on the FIR, authorities apprehended two suspects in connection with the case, while investigations into the involvement of others continue.
The episode adds to a troubling surge in assaults on women across Bhubaneswar in recent days, heightening anxiety among residents and prompting calls for stricter patrolling and faster judicial action in the capital.
