The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been experiencing a sweltering heatwave, with temperatures soaring to record levels.
Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 36.6°C, while Cuttack reached a scorching 37°C, making it one of the hottest days of the year so far.
According to local meteorological data, the rise in temperature is due to a combination of factors, including clear skies and prevailing wind patterns.
The residents of both cities are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, such as staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours.
The meteorological department has also issued a heatwave warning for the next few days, urging citizens to remain cautious and stay informed about weather updates.
In response to the rising temperatures, local authorities are making arrangements to provide additional drinking water facilities and shade structures in public areas.
