The Trauma Care Centre (TCC) of Dharani Dhar Medical College and Hospital (DDMCH), Keonjhar, gave a new lease of life to 10-year-old Kshirod Jamuda, who was critically injured in a road accident near his village on July 14.
Following initial treatment at Harichandrapur Community Health Centre, Kshirod was referred to DDMCH for advanced care. Upon arrival, doctors identified low haemoglobin levels and administered stabilising treatment before planning a trauma surgery.
Today, a team of specialists led by Prof Ashok Kumar Nayak (Orthopaedics), Prof Debashis Swain (Anaesthesiology and Critical Care), Dr Ananta Narayan Patra, and Medical Superintendent Prof Mahendra Kumar Nayak successfully performed the orthopaedic operation. The child is now under 24-hour observation in the trauma ICU, with doctors expressing satisfaction over his clinical response and anticipating a smooth recovery.
The operation was a testament to the coordinated efforts and team spirit of the faculty and staff across departments.
Notably, the Trauma Care Centre at DDMCH was established under the joint initiative of the Health and Family Welfare Department and the District Mineral Fund (DMF) of Keonjhar, aimed at enhancing emergency medical infrastructure in the region.
