A training aircraft operated by a private company crash‑landed near the Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday afternoon, police said. No casualties were reported.

The mishap occurred around 12:30 pm when a Cessna 172 plane belonging to Carver Aviation skidded while landing. Pune SP Sandip Singh Gill confirmed that the two occupants escaped without serious injuries.

Police officials said investigations are underway to determine whether the aircraft developed a technical snag or faced other issues during landing. “It is too early to comment on anything,” a senior officer said.

The incident comes seven months after former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and four others were killed in a crash at the same airstrip while attempting to land their Learjet 45 aircraft. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is expected to release its final report on that tragedy by January next year.

Baramati has witnessed multiple aviation mishaps in recent months. On May 13, a trainer aircraft of Redbird Flight Training Academy crashed near Gojubavi village, though the trainee pilot escaped safely.

Officials said Sunday’s crash‑landing involved the aircraft hitting a light pole before skidding to the ground, but prompt response ensured no major injuries.
