A devastating accident near a river embankment under Jajpur Sadar police station on Wednesday claimed one life and left two others injured.
The deceased has been identified as Arjun Nayak, while the injured are Arjun Jena and Soumya Ranjan Panda.
The incident occurred when a tractor-trolley carrying sand overturned, trapping all three occupants beneath the heavy vehicle. Locals immediately rushed to the scene, alerting emergency responders. The fire brigade and police arrived promptly, working alongside residents to rescue the injured individuals.
All three victims were transported to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Tragically, doctors declared Arjun Nayak dead upon arrival. The other two victims are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident, urging transport operators to adhere to safety protocols to prevent further tragedies. The mishap has raised concerns about the dangers of sand transportation in Odisha.
