In a dramatic development following the September 28 attack on hotel owner Shivdayal Jain, police filed a second FIR against Ankur Agrawal for allegedly using fake SIM cards to blackmail a woman.
Sindhekela police station registered the case after new evidence surfaced.
Initially, many believed Jain’s injuries resulted from a road accident. However, CCTV footage later showed a numberless Bolero deliberately ramming into him. Jain sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Bolangir SP Abhilash G launched a direct investigation and arrested Ankur, a youth leader from the BJP and a known associate of Titilagarh MLA Naveen Jain.
As the investigation progressed, locals accused Ankur of using his political ties to intimidate businessmen and extort money. Reports suggest he collected funds from contractors and quarry operators. His alleged role in a previous attack on a journalist also came to light.
Meanwhile, police began questioning three more individuals from Sindhekela. Sources revealed that officers plan to take Ankur into remand for further interrogation. Concerns grew after reports indicated that a senior police officer close to Ankur may have tried to influence the case.
Opposition leaders from the BJD demanded MLA Naveen Jain’s arrest, citing his suspected involvement in the conspiracy. Despite mounting pressure, police have not released updates, which has fueled public suspicion.
This case has ignited political tensions in Titlagarh. Citizens are calling for transparency and a thorough investigation. Many believe only a full disclosure will restore public trust and reveal the true extent of the conspiracy.
