The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph in several districts across Odisha.
Alongside this, scorching heat and high humidity levels are expected to persist for the next few days.
According to IMD forecasts, the districts likely to witness thunderstorms include Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Nayagarh, and Khurda. Residents are advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning strikes.
The IMD also stated that there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures across the state for the next six to seven days. While thunderstorms might bring momentary relief, the overall weather pattern will remain hot and humid, especially in districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and stay indoors during severe weather conditions. Meanwhile, Odisha awaits further updates from IMD as summer temperatures continue to pose challenges for residents.
