Gurgaon: Three people were killed and at least 10 others were injured after a fire broke out in a fireball factory in Gurgaon’s Daulatabad industrial area early on Saturday.
The incident took place around 2.35 am in a factory manufacturing auto fire-off (AFO) balls, which are used as fire extinguishers. Initially, two fire tenders were rushed to the spot near Dwarka expressway in Gurgaon and more were called in from IMT Manesar, Sector 29 and 37, Udyog Vihar, and Sohna fire stations.
The deceased have been identified as Kaushik, 28, a resident of Laxman Vihar who worked as a carpenter with GFO Private Limited; Arun, 26, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli and worked at Technocrat Private Limited; and Ram Awadh, 59, who worked as a guard and hailed from Delhi.
Among the injured, eight people are in Sector 10 civil hospital, one is at a private hospital in Gurgaon and another at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Karan Goel said that the worker undergoing treatment at Safdarjung was in a serious condition. The fire department said one person was missing.
