Dense fog once again disrupted flight operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar today, forcing airlines to cancel three flights and delay 15 others.
The affected flights were scheduled to depart for Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.
Reports confirmed that the fog caused delays of up to four hours, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated. Airlines continued to update travellers about the status of their flights, but the situation remained uncertain throughout the morning.
At 6:30 a.m., visibility dropped to just 50 meters, making it impossible for flights to take off. Aviation safety standards require a minimum visibility of 550 meters for safe operations. The dense fog blanketed Bhubaneswar’s skies, creating hazardous conditions for pilots and ground staff.
Yesterday’s flight schedules were also affected by similar weather conditions, and forecasts suggest that dense fog may persist, causing further inconvenience. Authorities have urged passengers to remain alert to airline advisories and prepare for possible delays.
