Tesla Inc. is finally accelerating into the Indian automobile market with plans to open its first showroom in Mumbai this Tuesday, as per sources familiar with the development.
The electric vehicle giant will begin deliveries of its Model Y SUVs from late August, with customer configurations and orders expected to start next week.
Sources indicate that the showroom’s initial week will cater to VIPs and business partners, followed by public access in the subsequent week. This strategic launch positions Tesla to tap into the rapidly growing EV demand in India, currently the world’s third-largest automobile market.
The first batch of Tesla Model Y rear-wheel drive SUVs has already landed in India, shipped from Tesla’s Shanghai facility. This move signals Tesla’s intent to offset slowing global sales by leveraging emerging markets like India.
The launch not only boosts India’s EV ecosystem but also opens avenues for sustainability-driven transport innovation. Pricing details, variant specifications, and trim options will be available to customers shortly after the showroom debut.
With Tesla’s entry, India’s auto landscape is set for a high-voltage transformation.
