Mayurbhanj: Vigilance sleuths on Friday caught two government officials for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe at Raruan in Mayurbhanj district.
The officials have been identified as Satya Sundar Rout, OAS, Tahsildar of Raruan in Mayurbhanj and Kamal Lochan Patra, Amin at Bhanjakia under Raruan Tahasil.
According to reports, the accused were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15000 from a complainant to issue RoR(patta) of his plot. The amount was an instalment against an overall demand of Rs 40,000. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Rout, Tahasildar and seized it.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on properties of the accused Tehsildar and Amin from DA angle.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case no 19/ 2022 u/s 7PC Amendment Act.2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against both the accused.
