Basel: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu suffered straight-game loss to Rio Olympics gold medallist Carolin Marin in the women’s singles final of Swiss Open Super 300 tournament here in Switzerland.
The 25-year-old Indian couldn’t match the speed and accuracy of Marin in the final that lasted only 35 minutes.
The reigning world champion from India started the game on a bright note and entered a first game interval with a slender lead. Marin however changed the game after the break and pushed the Indian shuttler on the backfoot, who eventually sealed the opening game 21-12.
Marin got off to a brilliant start in the second game, winning four consecutive points. She dominated the second game and didn’t allow Sindhu to even reach the double-figure mark. Marin won the second game 21-5 to clinch the women’s singles title.
