Sambalpur: The Bar Council of India revoked the suspension order on 54 lawyers of Sambalpur Bar Association.
They were suspended for allegedly ransacking on Sambalpur district court during protest demanding High Court bench last year.
Their names were also included in the voter list in the ensuing Bar Council Election, a letter issued by the BCI stated.
The BCI had suspended the practice license of the lawyers and barred them to enter the court premises to participate in any legal matter.
The Supreme court had also directed the State police to act stricitly against the erring advocates who were indulged in violence.
Following SC direction, police had arrested the lawyers and lodged them into jail.
The lawyers had unleased violence during protest demanding the establishment of a high court bench. They had barged into the premises of the Sambalpur district court and ransacked the court, including the chamber of the district judge on December 12.
